Color Cart was a collaborative drawing trio consisting of Mariangeles Soto-Diaz, Douglas Degges, and Mary Laube. Collectively, Color Cart was born in three countries and holds Masters degrees from The University of Iowa, California Institute of the Arts and Claremont Graduate School. Color Cart has exhibited in Los Angeles and individually they have exhibited widely.

Drawing together after dinner, the collaboration began as a social event that the artists decided to extend as they splintered into both coasts and the Midwest. Now the trio spans both place and time through a serial drawing process. Offering a sharp contrast to the highly individualized model that dominates the art world, Color Cart seeks to reinvigorate the idea of collectivity in the creative process. Approaching drawing as a compelling form of communication similar to letter writing, the exchange relies on the shipping system to transport drawings across the country. All three artists contribute to each drawing and by the end each drawing accrues at least 2500 miles of travel before someone declares it finished.
